BE IN MY MUSIC VIDEO!!! + Darren Criss’ Show+ 80′s Christmas

WANNA BE IN MY NEW MUSIC VIDEO!?

That’s a rhetorical question–of course you do!

Are you a dreamer?  What is the craziest dream you’ve always wished would come true that hasn’t?  Do you have a wild reoccurring dream?  (I had a dream once that a lion ripped my stomach out as i got out of a limo to walk on a red carpet.  aaaaand i had that dream when i was really young still living in KS way before I’d ever done a red carpet.  I ran into my parents room and they gave me Pepto-Bismol….for my nightmare.  (?)   i even did some shitty middle school art project using that image.  (so healthy).  WTF does that mean?  Am i destined to be F’d by a metaphorical lion?  *emotional wound reopened*)

i digress.  this about YOU!

My boy Scott Simons produced a really cool cover of me singing the song ‘Dreams’ by Gabrielle …you know…the one from the 90′s.  I wanna make another DIY video with MANNfan’s help.  YOU made the Heartless Video such a success and I have an idea for the next installment.

So like i was saying…What is your biggest dream?  What did you always wish would come true?  What is your worst nightmare?!  Are you scared for the world?  Does a crazy ghost from the 1800′s try to ‘tap that ass’ in your sleep?  That’s part one…

Part 2–what dream HAS come true for you?  What did you work hard for that you achieved?  What thing, ever so simple, are you so greatful for?  Who did you sleep with to get what you want?  wait…no.  What are you MOST thankful for?  WHO are you most thankful for?  That’s part two…

POST YOUR RESPONSES on my facebook wall or tweet me @iamchrismann.  Add #MANNfanDreams to your tweet or facebook caption.  Your responses should be concise eg- “beat this illness!” or “skydive naked!” or “I wanna win the game at the last second” for part one and “my dad came home from Iraq” or  “I married my best friend’s ex-wife” for part 2.  At least TRY to make it short…if it’s super amazing/hilarious/moving just go for it and i’ll figure out a way to make it work.  Any dream will do…

Ok so that’s the minimum participation i need/desire (ooh sexy!) from you all.  I’d LOVE to have your written responses for sure…BUT THERE’S MORE you can do if you wanna be MORE FEATURED!  (not required but if you’re feelin’ saucy)

Yeah…you know i want your picture!  You know those cartoon bubble quote things?  The ones that come out of the character’s heads?  Well…take some poster board or paper and cut out a bigger circle and write your CONCISE dream CLEARLY in SHARPIE in that circle.  then cut out a few more smaller and smaller circles that will become the bubble quote…OR put one of those sperm looking comma things on your circle that will look like it’s coming out of your head/mind.  (how’s my description so far?!  yikes)  Then go lay down in bed.  Put on something “more comfortable.”  Now light a candle…yeah.  that’s right.  just like that.  *record scratch!*  HOLD UP!  wow…this is getting out of hand.  rewind–lay down in bed with your head innocently on the pillow.  Place your dream bubble on the bed in a way that looks like it’s coming out of your head.  Close your eyes like you’re in a sweeeeet dream (or be sweating bullets and having a night terror as the lion rips out your intestines) and have someone snap your picture from ABOVE so we can see your purdy sleeping face and READ your bubble dream.  Make sense?!  Clear as mud?  After you’ve taken your glamor shot POST IT HERE on my facebook page so i can download it, hopefully pick yours and work my magic *crosses fingers*  Put #MANNfansDreams in the caption with your quote in there too in case i can’t read your ghetto handwriting.  (mine looks like i’m writing with my non-dominant hand, blindfolded and drunk…during an earthquake.  so sad.  damn you computers/electronic typing machines!)

Here’s a picture of what i’m looking for:

(randomly, and by mere coincidence, Gus received a Christmas package from my mom today and it contained a squeeky chew toy that was shaped like a TALK BUBBLE!…that says “WTF?”!!!…it’s amazing and ironic considering this music video theme)

Once I have the ammo i need I’ll edit together another MANNfan made music video!  I can’t wait to see what we come up with.  I was amazed at the submissions for the Heartless video–so touching, original and even funny sometimes.  These are your dreams so the sky’s the limit people.

!!!ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE POSTED/TWEETED BY JANUARY 14!!!

Git-r-dun!

DARREN CRISS ROX THE ROXY

I was lucky enough to have been invited (along with the other Glee Warblers Nelson Beato, Jon Hall, James David, Curt Mega and Brock Baker) to see our fearless leader, Darren Criss, perform at The Roxy in Hollywood on Saturday.  The evening show was sold out so they added a matinee…and that sold out too.  soooo that’s kind of rock star if you ask me.

Darren did an awesome set with a varied mix of songs ranging from The Lion King to his originals to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” of course.  I couldn’t help but chuckle as the tween Gleek’s there to see him sang along to Katy’s song.  I, and the Warblers, hummed along while fighting the urge to do the dance from the episode.  (i’m thinking that anyone who might have been watching me during this moment would have though i had turrets and a stick up my ass.  awk-waaaaard.)

I loved how Darren would whip out songs from his musicals (Very Potter Musical) and his older EPs and still have the audience singing along.  Dem be some loyal fans!  So awesome.

I was glad I got to be there to support.

SHOW AT BARRE’S JOHN HUGHES HOLIDAY SHOW

Thank you to all of you who came out to the big Holiday Road 80′s Christmas show last night at Barre Vermont.  It was a blast…and sold out, i might add!  (when you use the phrase “i might add” isn’t that kinda dumb since you did, in fact, add your point?  shouldn’t it be “i DID add?”  #justsayin)

I was very excited about participating in this show (created by Shane Scheel and Chris Barren) since I would be performing awesome 80′s (and beyond) music from classic John Hughes movies.  I sang “Sixteen Candles” and “True” from Sixteen Candles (duh), “Young Americans” from Pretty in Pink and “Please Come Home for Christmas” from Home Alone.  It was a blast….except that i was kinda peeing my pants considering I had only a few days to learn all the songs.  (have you HEARD Young Americans by David Bowie?  it’s 1- completely la cucaracha and 2- doesn’t rhyme so there’s nothing to really grasp on to when memorizing.  So i turned to hand gestures to make me remember.  for example touching my crotch for “she took his babies” and did the jerk off motion for “it took him minutes.”  crude?  yes.  Did i forget the words?  No, thank you very much!  (Julie Taber was front and center and can attest)

Scenes from the movies were performed between songs like this iconic “hair brushing/after shave” scene from Home Alone complete with the “AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH” scream!

NCIS: LA star Barret Foa rocked out the 80′s tie (and Steve Mazurek the sweater) as he killed his rendition of “Bust a Move” from Uncle buck.  I’m sure there’s a video of that floating on YouTube.  Look that shit up.  It’s amazing.  Word has it LL Cool J came to the show last week and saw–would Love to know what he thought of Barret’s skeelz.

Tracie Thoms (RENT, Cold Case, Devil Wears Prada) graced us with her version of “This Woman’s Work” from She’s Having a Baby and Jessica Keenan Wynn sang the Hawaiian classic “Mele Kaliki Maka” from Christmas Vacation.

Stevie Mackey stole the show, yet again (see my previous blog about him and the church phrase “gonna throw my shoe at you” in regards to how sick his vocals are) with “Try a Little Tenderness” from Pretty in Pink, “Joy to the World” from Miracle on 34th Street and “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from The Breakfast Club.  Dionne Gibson slayed as well with “I’m So Excited” from Christmas Vacation (and Saved by the Bell…though that wasn’t a John Hughes movie…but still).

I was so excited (pun not originally intended but now TOTALLY intended) to be a part of this show with this insane cast.  I can’t wait to do another show with these guys.  If you’re in the LA area you really should try to make it out.

If anyone has any video of this stuff lemme know!

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
